Project Summary

Holyrood is a community experiencing rapid change, from its Oceans Holyrood Initiative which aims to position the town as a leader in the blue economy, to significant population increase over several years. The Town has recognized that outdoor amenities play an important role in attracting individuals and businesses to the community and reinforce the maxim that Holyrood is a great place to live, work, play and invest. Mills & Wright worked with Town staff to develop a bold vision for two of its most important public spaces: the beachfront boardwalk and SquidFest festival grounds. Based on feedback received from public engagement , our team prepared conceptual design drawings illustrating the vision. We also led the detailed design phase of the project and prepared construction drawings for Phase 1, which was successfully implemented in 2021, and included an accessible trail, widened pedestrian bridge, a gateway feature, and sitting areas.
